How to spend your time on Tokashiki Island
Tokashiki Island is the closest inhabited island to Okinawa's main island.
It is located in the East China Sea, approximately 30 km west of Naha.
The area around this island is known for its beautiful waters and was registered under the Ramsar Convention in 2005. On a clear day, there is a beach where you can see the main island of Okinawa, and a sandy beach famous for sea turtles laying eggs.
On the land side, there is an observation deck and forest park that overlooks the Chibishi Islands, and there are also remains of battles from the Pacific War. Whale watching is also possible during the winter.
You can also enjoy the Ryukyuan cuisine, which is unique to Tokashiki Island, such as kusuimun (medicine-like food). There are many things to see in each season, so please come and visit us.
